Do ducks speak before dawn???

My Dad, brother and I have been hunting my Dad's place which is a fly way for Mallards. I think I've figured out why they aren't coming in and I'm embarrased to say that I think it's because I'm calling too much. Anyway, I was wondering if ducks make any noise before first light? These ducks are coming over like 5-10 minutes before shooting light and they'll check out the dekes and leave. I'm thinking that me calling is making them uneasy.

I'd love to have them land before light and then jump em' when it gets light enough to shoot. Isn't that the best????

RE: Do ducks speak before dawn???

Where I hunt, they only respond to a short feeder unless they are flight ducks. If you hunt where they get up in the morning, they have most likely fed all night and are (stretching their wings). Will return late afternoon. If the moon was bright all night like it has been, they have already fed and are looking for a daytime hideout. Very few dekes in calm, sheltered water with lots of visibility.
