Default A quick fun evening

Tonight was fun .
Got to the marsh at 4:15
Snowing or rain , it changed back and forth 4 or 5 times
Walked in about 200 yds to a spot on the creek
Set up my 6 decoys and a wind powered spinning wing decoy
Before I got back to the bank the first ducks were in the decoys
Got to the bank , picked up the shotgun and droped 3 green heads , with 3 shots .

Sent the dog after them
Walked over to the brush blind I have and started to count decoys .
1,2,3,.....9 WTF there are 3 ducks in the decoys
Figured out I had 3 more Mallards in the decoys
Shot my final mallard Green head
The dog finished fetching the mallards and I had a Pintail come in .
Sent the dog for it and shot my 6'th duck as he swam thru the decoys .
A nice drake Woodie
Picked up the decoys and walked back to the truck .
Total time 1 hr and 5 min

Great to be where the ducks want to land

Only bad thing , I found a muskrat run as I was picking up decoys and got a little wet

Nice!

Im probably hunting pretty much directly north of you. Three of us went out this afternoon. 14greenheads and an inmature pin. We were holding out on our 6 th birds for mountable drake pins.. passed on many many mallards and several teal and woodies. Wiffed on a flock of 3 pins that we had dead too rights.

I have never in my life seen this many pins on 20 years of hunting!

Migrant mallards are showing up in good numbers too! Between 1 and 5 pm has been absolutely incredible in the marsh were hunting,, everyone in there is crushing birds consistantly at those times!

we had only a week resident season for geese and that was in September- the migratory season don't come in till November 15th. I am seeing canadians everywhere now and am just chomping at the bit to get out there and dust a few.
