Semi Auto Baikal

My friend and I went out and shot some clays for a little Sept. 1st warm up the other day, and he had bought a brand new semi auto Baikal. I'm not really sure what model it was, as I didnt look, but he was having lots of trouble getting it to cycle right. Sometimes it would eject the empty, but not bring the new shell into the chamber, sometimes it wouldnt even eject the empty. Has anyone had this problem before with Baikals? Being made in Russia, is there any headquarters in the U.S. he could send the gun to without shipping it across the globe?

RE: Semi Auto Baikal

I just got one last week ,still a virgin .
Several freinds have them , non have had a lick of trouble .

First clean it .

Then read the directions .
You can set it for light or heavy loads ( I have not read my directions yeat ).
Also I know there is a recomended break in driections .

If all else fails contact EAA , they were importing them .
They should still be servicing them , or send you to the right people

You have to adjust it for light loads. That is a must. They are great guns at that.

Yeah that could be why...I didnt really talk to him about it that much...but when we went out shooting he said that he had shot about 10 rounds through it before, and not hand that much of a problem. Im not sure that cleaning it could be the problem seeing as how he only shot about maaaybe 15 rounds when the problem occured, but i'll let him know about setting it for light loads. Thanks a lot.

Hey Buddy, i have a Baikal and its a awsome gun for the price. i already use it 4 yrs and this be the 5th yr. in Saskatchewan, Canada atthe hunting lodge and i shot hunderds of birds up there since i bought it and havent had abit of trouble.
But you must change the gas chamber for lights loads or you will be haveing trouble all the time.Just play with it and use cpl different shells and mark it for light loads, medium loads and heavly than u will know exact where you need to change it for each shells.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting..
