Default 410 waterfowl loads

I just bought my son a 410 for his birthday. I've been told that there are non lead loads for the .410. The only place I can find them is on the web. Before I buy them i want to know...Are they are worth buying?

- Thats a hard call... for a new duck hunter, just shoot a few ducks for him and act like he hit them...It will increasehis excitment and enjoyment of hunting....410 is just not a popular waterfowl gauge, a 20g will have plenty of duck loads...
- Heck, come to think of it, my Dad still shoots a few of myducks on occasion... And I am a hunting guide....Outfitters call it "guide shooting", when you have to help a paying client-customer fill thier limit...

While It does not happen that often, it is a dirty little secret of commercial hunting...

I bought minefrom Midway. Bismouth not alot of shot in them. I am trying them this year on Wood Ducks . My property is wooded and the shots won't be very far . I think it may fun but you might have to be right on the money to shoot a duck.Could be fun for Him just shooting but he may get lucky too.

He may get lucky, or he could get completely discouraged when he can't kill anything. Or, maybe worse yet, only makes cripples. He should be shooting at least a 20. Jim

the only non-tox factory load for a 410 is bismuth. it's about 30 bucks a box for 25 shells.

i would suggest that you take him dove hunting a few times, then get him a 20 gauge. there are alot more shells available for a 20 than there are for a 410, plus they cost less, and the 20 has a bigger payload.
