You can get 3.5" 12ga waterfowl loads with the same shot volumeand orvelocity as a 10ga with awhole lot more options. The only thing a10ga has on the3.5" 12ga is a more consistant pattern, whichisn't as large of a gap as it waswith the extended chokes now.

I used a 20 guage for three years of duck hunting and had lots of success. This past season i bought a 870 supermag 12 guage. I had about the same amount of success with this in the closer ranges as the 20 guage but for the longer shots i must say that i have more luck with the 12 guage. The main thing with using a 20 guage is to pick your shots. Myold manhunts with me and he still uses his old faithful 20 guage and always matches or beats me so it depends on how patient you are with chossing your shots.

Hey desertdog,
Ask the birds if they know what the difference is. Kill or Harvest its all the same thing.
Back on subject a 20 will definetely make them bleed profuselly if you get them within range and hit where your aimin. Btw I think blood makes the millet grow.

I use a 12 ga. pump, in my mind they are more accurate. Every time you pump it, you have to re-aim because that action throws you off. You also save on shells, compared to blasting 3 off in .2344 seconds (like my dad)
