Remington 1100 - steel shot
I need to find a way to come up with some money for a Benelli.
In the meantime, Imight have an opportunity to pick up at Remington 1100 at a decent price. It is an older gun that hasn't seen alot of shooting and appears to be in great shape. It is an older shotgun - It may be 20 or more years old. I guess there are 2 questions: I have to check to see if it accepts 3 inch shells. If it does not, should I steer away from itto shoot ducks? I have heard that you should not shoot steel shot through it. I have heard the opposite. Will steel shot be too much for this gun? Thanks Bill |
RE: Remington 1100 - steel shot
yes because it takes alot to take down a duck from sometimes long distances if anything look at the mossberg 500 it chambers 3 and is very relible

RE: Remington 1100 - steel shot
I have an 1100 my ex baught me over 20 years ago, I shot steel shot through it for around 3 years. I love the gun so much that I had to by another for duck hunting because I wasworried about shooting the barrell out. I still use it today but for spring Turkey hunting only. It consistantly patterns better than my 2 - 3 1/2" guns. It is a 3" Full choke So if it is a 3" Full it should work.

if it's a good price pick it up and shoot it. you can shoot steel and i have allot of friends that shoot 2 3/4 shells and kill just as many if not more ducks/geese as i do with my benelli.

You cant pass up any good gun ata good price. I'd buy it and if worse comes to worse, resell it.

RE: Remington 1100 - steel shot
I grew up with 1100s they are the best autos for skeet or trap shooting.
i also take it on dove hunts Skeet choke and quail i have got alot of ducks with too (mod) and it will not beat you to death my dad used to take his with a 34" full trap barrell it would reach out and touch em you can get any part for an1100 even barrels with screw in chokes we switched to pumps870s in the early 80s because older 1100s will not change shells when they get cold and wet (WD40) helps in the mid 80s we starting using Bennelis you can drop it the salt water and pick it up shoot and all is fine i don't think you can hurt one |
RE: Remington 1100 - steel shot
They are good guns, if it doesnt have removable chokes i would get that done....
