Calling Help
I have several different duck and goose calls but whenever I call it seems too high pitched. I've tried different hand positions and grunting into the call at a lower pitch but it doesn't really seem to help. Does anyone have any suggestions or good calling DVD's, CD'sor tapes to recommend?

The VHS/DVD Honker Talk by Shawn Stahl was very helpful to me.

RE: Calling Help
Have you tried moving the reed around?
Maybe you should get some Duck Commander calls. They're awesome. |
RE: Calling Help
Different pitch calls have their own place I keep 2 calls with me low and quiet and High and louder, sometimesI want to be very quietwhen calling some guys like higher pitch for timber. But as far as a tape I am not sure but would suggest getting one when I started out I threw the tape in when I was going to and from work and practiced for at least a year.Good Luck

RE: Calling Help
What kind/style/reed calls are you blowing?
Its easier for me to get softer and lower with a double reed (Echo preferred). |
RE: Calling Help
The sick reality is I am not sure, I have bought alot of calls looking for the right sounds and the higher pitch raspy call that works for me is acrylic but it has been around so long the label is worn off, I know it is a single reed though. The low pitch call is an Wooden Olt cheap and works well, also a single reed.

RE: Calling Help
Have you ever tried a Yentzen (sp?)? Try a double reed Yentzen, i blew one a few years back and you could get really soft on it and still keep a nice low tone.
