Geese open for me sept 1, but will not be getting out much for geese, our duck season opens oct 15 and will be getting out a lot for that ( as usual :D)

Goose season starts here on Sept 1st. Not sure if I will make it out the first day, but going out on the 3rd for sure. Duck starts Oct 8.

sorry guys, i havent posted anything in a while. goose is open now along with dove, but no such luck for me on geese. ducks open up oct. 1st and i will be out all weekend then

hey johnch good job on the geese and teal, im hoping ill get lucky on a couple but no guarantees, duck hunting is what i hunt a lot harder

I got 3 geese this AM
Of course I left the camera at home , So I could only show you my geese.
The 3 of us took 9 geese by 8:30
Simmon got to fetch 6 of the 9 out of the pond , he loved every second .

nice geese, quick question what size shot do you use for your geese and duck, and what kind of ammo

For geese I shoot reloaded 1 3/8 oz of Hevi Shot # 2 or 3 at 1500 fps

For ducks I shoot either 1 1/4 oz of Hevi Shot # 6 at 1500 fps or a reload of 1 oz of #3 steel at 1550

If the geese are decoying Hevi Shot is not needed Steel BB will do .
If they flair at 40 or so yards the steel BB are maxed out but the Hevi #2 or 3 will kill them cleanly to 60+ yds

Decoying ducks only need my steel #3 but pass shooting the Hevi #6 realy shines

But those teal are not coming into the marsh this year

Weather in the mid to upper 80's ,probely to good to push them down

Our Ohio first 1/2 opened warm and clear

No geese but 2 woodies and a pair of mallards this AM

the 3 of us got 6 woodies and 4 mallards

We opened sat and I hunted sat and sun and got SKUNKED! Only pulled the trigger once and missed. Should be getting going shortly.

Finaly some weather to move the ducks .

Tonight I got 2 woodies and 3 Mallards
In 2 hours
Ohio has a 6 duck limmit

Would have gotten my limmit , but I helped a freind with a crippled goose .
My lab made a 400+ yd swim to fetch a broke wing goose .
It came back with its neck a little mangled ( My lab finishes off cripples with a bite to the neck ) , but it was fetched to hand and we stayed dry.

But I would rather find a cripple and not limmit out , than limmit out and lose birds to suffer.

I hunted this morning in 30 MPH winds , rain and lighting
It was great

I limmited out in 20 min

4 Mallard drakes , 1 Gadwall and a woodie in my limmit

I was Bambi slamming ( deer hunting ) for the last week .
I did sneek out and kill a few green heads my self ( 3 )

Our regular season ended yest ( did not fire a shot ), we still have a 2 day jan season and geese opened throughout january so hopefully can add to the totals!

I got to get the cammera fixed
I have been slamming the geese the last few days
Wen night I didn't get the decoys out .
I had 16 of the 36 decoys out when a flock tryed to land on my head .
I just picked the shotgun off the ATV , loaded 2 shells , Bang Bang .
My limmit in 2 min .

I have gotten 8 geese in the last 6 days
We have been seeing flocks of 10 to 200 + that decoy great .
I try to shoot small flocks , as to not wise up big flocks .
Tonight I hunted from 4:00 to 4:40 PM
I killed 1 out of a flock only to have 3 swing back and let us finish our limmits .

Got 2 more mallards on 1/1/06, the 2nd and last day of our late season for ducks. Geese goes on until 1/29 and I will get out this saturday for them, but likely this sat will be my last day for the season.

I know you guys have been killing birds but please make sure you post a new post with current accurate totals of where you guys are for me to calculate.

I got 2 more geese and 2 Mallards since my last post .

I updated our totals to date as I know them .

I have a goose hunt this week end , I hope to add to the total.
