Canon GL2 Mini DV 3CCD ?
 

What do you guys think of this camera? I can get a used one of eBay for about $1400

The GL2 is a nice cam.. only real complaint about it would be how much it sucks in low light... other than that, the GL2 is an awesome cam!.. But for $1,400 I would take a look at the Sony PD-150.. That's a sweet cam! Does everything the GL2 will do for you and has awesome low light! Also, I like the ease of adjusting the manual controls a little better on the PD-150 than the GL2, but the GL2 is not bad by any means.

Thats funny I asked a local video pro and he said don't buy the PD-150. It's too outdated and I might run into issues should I ever need a part or something. The PD170 is what I'd want in an SD camera or the Cannon GL2.

So I guess I don't know what to do now! Low light is very important.

Really?.. Hmmm.. well I guess if that may be an issue then I would go with the PD 170... I've never heard ANYONE say that the PD 150 is too 'outdated'... the GL2 is around an 8 year old model cam, I think? Hmm, anyway, I would go with the 170 then, but essentially comparing the 150 to the 170, between those (not concerned about it being too outdated) I would go with the 150... You won't see a dramatic difference between the 150 and 170, not enough for the $$ difference, anyway.

But yea, I guess my vote would be with the 170 nonetheless.

Well, I was curios to see how old both the cams were and the 150 is older than the GL2.. both are rather old models (Gl2-7, 150-10)
Even still, I used to have a GL2 and currently have a 150 and I wish I would've never have wasted my money on the GL2.. not that it wasn't a good cam but just because I love my 150 that much more.

Not to intrude but I own both versions the pd170 and the gl2. the pd 170 replaced the pd150 and that was one of the things they updated was the screens internally to allow for better low-light recording. I purchased my pd170's both new one for 2600 and the other for 3200 so thats quite a bit more expensive than the gl2. you can find a gl2 for cheaper than 1400 I did.
