What video cameras do you use and like?

Come the the first weekend of july I will be buying a new camera. Everything is limited for me in this situation...

I found a camera that I like and is perfect for what im needing it for but I want to know what all you have and like. Tell me what camera you have and pros and cons on it.

The camera I was looking at (I saw one at wal-mart also and I was playing around with it) was the JVC Everio GZ-MG335 with the 35x optical zoom and 30GB hard drive. The price is $300 at walmart and ill end up buying a charger with it along with an extra memory card so Ill be spending roughly $360-375.

Somethings im looking for are...

30x and up
$450 and lower
20GB and up
takes SD cards
small and light weight
microphone built in

things like that.
But I can always make some changes if neccessary. :D share what you guys have and/or like.

CNET isn't too crazy about it. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camc...-32864921.html

Usually the SD card is just for still shots. http://www.camcorderinfo.com is about the best source for info. You can check Newegg for pricing, and B&H Photo is about the most reputable seller on the internet. I just bought a Canon HV-30 from them.

bergcrane, thanks for the comment and the link to the review. I looked around on B&H photo a little bit and found another camera. A little bit more money but oh well.

It's the Panasonic SDR-H80 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/597297-REG/Panasonic_SDR_H80K_SDR_H80_60GB_Standard_Definitio n.html#accessories

Have you got your camera from B&H Photo yet or is it still in the mail?
The reason I ask is because on the site it says under the "Items Included" tab that I get all this stuff with the camera:
[*]SDR-H80 60GB Standard Definition Camcorder [/ul]
[*]AC Adapter [/ul]
[*]Battery Pack [/ul]
[*]A/V Cable [/ul]
[*]USB Cable [/ul]
[*]VideoCam Suite 2.0 Software [/ul]
[*]AC/DC Cables [/ul]
[*]90-Days Labor & 1-Year Parts Limited Warranty [/ul]
Does that all come at the listed price? Or are they all just suggestions to buy with the camera?

MW74, Im just looking for a nice clear video so I can show the family and put on the internet. Nothing special. When I get out of college (which is about 6 years from now) I will buy a better camera with better video editing software and trymaking a good dvd to give out.

Soundwise with the wireless mic, im not to worried about. As long as you can hear some of the things going on then im fine.

thanks for replying.

If you are looking to share with friends and fam. I would check and find a "landscape" mode or one that has a manual focus ring. There is nothing more frustrating than having a critter right below you, and in the frame, but the camera is focused on a leaf 2 feet from the camera. Any digital camera now will be plenty good quality to share with friends and/or post to the internet.
Make sure it has manual focus.
Check the stats on the camera for a Lux rating.
The lower the lux number the lower light it will film well
High lux rating of 5 or more then u will not be able to film past documented sunrise/sunset times.
A low lux rating of 1-3 will allow a camera to film close to dark especially for bowhunting.
Night shot is a nice feature to have, but will not work if u plan on using it deer hunting. The infared light the niteshot uses to illuminate is only effective for approximately 10 feet or so.

If i were u I would prolly stay your route as far as Mem card instead of tapes. You can spend $100 in memory cards and back it up to multiple dvds and reuse you cards over and over again. I'm using a Canon GL1 still right now and is such a pain and drag on my wallet to just have to keep buying tape after tape.
Good Luck! Welcome to the club, I have some hunts I've been putting on youtube check out the Channel. BOWNUTZ
