Type of videocamera for filming hunts
Looking to start filming my hunts. I haven’t decied on what type of camera to use, maybe HD. Looking for one in the $350 to $450 range.
Would HD be the way to go? I do see some older videocameras out there that are not HD but still would shoot some quality footage. I guess I am just undecided to try a better standard definition videocamera, or go with a cheaper HD videocamera. When watching your hunts on a 42” LCD would the HD cover the whole screen whereas a standard definition camera cover only part of the screen.? I guess the answer to that question will help narrow down the type of videocamera I want to use. |
RE: Type of videocamera for filming hunts
If you want a good HD camera, id say you would probably have to spend at least $700.

HD isn't as important as good audio. A wide angle lens is very useful too. I've got both and love HD, but not too many people can burn to Blue Ray or even have a HD television. You can get a good used Sony or Canon miniDV with a shotgun mic on eBay for $300-$400. I have a couple Sony HC-90's and really like them. They can shoot in 4x3 or 16x9.
As for viewing on your 42" LCD, you should have different zoom options on the tv itself. I assume your 42" is a 16x9 widescreen format. |
