the shotgun mic helps because the mics on the cameras werent made for the outdoors and dont pic up that good of sound and the wireless mics help to make the hunter/shooter stand out to where you can actually understand what he is whispering

I'd recommend wireless mics, a good camera head (my choice is the Bogan 501), a zoom controller, and a camera arm. A good waterproof cover can also be nice to have.

You'll find out soon enough - this sport isn't cheap. Seems like it never ends, and everything is crazy expensive! Regardless - it's a riot! Good luck bro!

The zoom controller is called a remote LANC in case you are trying to search it. ;) I would recommend also you will need a microphone mixer or XLR adapter if necessary to use your shotgun and wireless mics in conjunction. Also don't forget a video light to use for those pre dawn setup or interviews and also the last light tracking, etc. Get you some good hi capacity batteries, also keep in mind if using the remote LANC it runs off the cameras battery and really drains the juice!! So get you several batteries or a good Anton-Bauer battery! ;) A good tripod with fluid head is also a must for alot of things, and or a a good monopod to help steady the footage. 1st rule of the pros.... Use a mount and try and keep those hands off the camera! :) Might I also suggest a good waterproof case if not already purchased like a Pelican or Storm case. Also stay away from using the cheap lens filters. And maintain using one brand of MiniDv tapes for the life of the camera.

You will want 3CCD's and wireless mics if you want to do it up right...and a tree arm to hold the cam

I own a Wedding Video Business on the side and used the same cams for my hunts..

I run a ..

Panasonic AG-DVC30 with Azden Wireless Mics , XLR adaptor and a Panasonic shotgun mic.
