just curious, when filming do you guys usually hang stands in the same tree one over the other, or in different trees. if so cameraman on top or underneath hunter?

We always set up in the same tree. It makes it easier to communicate when it comes down to crunch time. Shooter always has to get the OK from the camera man. If we're in trees even 10 feet away, camera man is going to have to say it fairly loud and risk scaring the game.

As far as angles goes, it just depends on the setup and where you think the deer will come from. Although, it seems where you think they will come and where they actuallly normally end up being totally different. We normally go off the shooters dominant hand. If the hunter is at 12 o'clock, then camera man goes anywhere between 3 and 6 o'clock on the tree. When he is filming (since I'm left handed) he sets up between 9 and 6 o'clock on the tree. Again it depends on the the setup and where the trails are. It's best to be over the shooters shoulder. If everyting works out correctly you can get the true release of the arrow with the deer in fram as well.

Always try to set up in the same tree, with the camera stand about half way between the shooters stands platform and seat and make sure the camera stand is not in line with any shooting lanes.............and as Mr. Cynical said, it's not filming it's videoing or taping:D(Don't worry I used to call it filming all the time when I first started too;))

Yup, if you are only using one camera your safest bet is to stay in the same tree. It makes communication easier and the hunter will generally have the same line of sight you do which keeps both of you on the same wavelength.
