I'm proud to have the Fest in our great state. It's only a 2 hour drive for me so I'm planning on being there.

I thought it was good. One thing in particular has stuck with me. I've wanted to go pheasant hunting in South Dakota but haven't been able to justify it because, well, the hunting around here isn't too bad. But at the show, several of the hunting lodges / outfitters had videos of actual hunts. I couldn't believe the numbers of birds on these videos from South Dakota. My generation's golden age of pheasant hunting in Nebraska was the early to mid '90's, but even then when it was nothing for a large group to limit before lunch time, I don't think we saw the numbers of birds in individual fields that those videos showed. So, without starting a war because I am only curious, are all those birds wild or supplemented with pen raised birds? I picked up a booklet from the Nebraska Game and Parks titled "Want More Pheasants? Here's how to get them!" Haven't digested it yet, but will soon.

Rem,I've heard hunting in South Dakota is good, but I'd bet 80 % of the birds you saw were planted. I actually didn't like seeing all those guides and lodges advertising there. They have every right to, but I'm just a wild bird, do-it-yourself kinda bird hunter. I did pick up several habitat and seed company brochures and bought some dog stuff. It was well worth the trip I thought.
