Stoeger Condor Supreme/Dlx

Guys,
I bought my brand new, first O/U Condor Supreme 12ga from Galyan's 3 or 4 weeks ago. I took it pheasant hunting for few weekends and I got a second barrel misfired, of course it happened when you really needs that 2nd shot.. . (I used Remington steel 3in magnum #4, 31/2 dram, Win steel 23/4#3 –lead #5,6,71/2,8, Fe.loce… #5 23/4 – seems like it does not care what it wants to misfire…) I tried few more times at trap/doubles shooting; it looks like its randomly misfiring second barrel (it does not mater which I select to shoot first (I got selective trigger model). It does not look like it shifting it to safety either… Like I said, it’s my first O/U and I do not know how it supposes to switch to the second shot but think it mechanical/recoil. Looks like in the case when second shot does not go off, I can ease my finger a little and then squeeze trigger again, which makes it shoot in most cases. However, on other double shot I just squeeze ones – it shoots first barrel , then I squeezing a little more and it shoots the second one. I am sorry for a dummy question, but how do you suppose to shoot these o/u? Or I just got a bad gun. I talked to guy in galyan’s and they can send it for warranty service but can not comment on my question… Looks like guy was more into fishing… . I like how it points and would not want to get rid of it if problem is fixable (if the is a problem at all….)

Thanks

Don't know anything about Stoeger firearms, But make sure you break the action fully when you open it to load. You may want to post this on another Forum on this site. Someone has probably heard of or seen this before. Nice Pic!

I always thought Stoeger imported guns from Turkey but your gun model is from Brazil? Anyways, first I would make sure your gun can handle 3" Mag shells and steel shot. Secondly, O/U's single triggers are suppose to fire one barrel at a time unless this is something new. I use to own a SKB 700 which I fired thousands of rounds thru it and had only one miss fire that was caused by the shell.

My suggestion would be talk to a compotent gunsmith. From Stoeger's website forums:

"the problem that your having is most likely a loose screw that holds the retention spring for the safety. if the screw is loose the spring wont hold tention on the safety when you fire the first bbl the recoil is setting the safety insted of setting the second trigger. if you dry fire the gun then bump the stock on the ground the second trigger will set then fire. the other problem may be that you just need to "break in" the gun condors are not the finest weapons. most of the internal parts are cast and not well finished. if your feeling bored you can take the stock off and very carefully polish the internal mateing surfaces. thats what i had to do. along with some red locktite and a punch mark to set the screw on the saftey spring. also check some of the other posts on this topic"

Alot of good info on there. BTW, they also suggested not using remmington ammo. Hope this helps.

Before you take it back and have it replaced, try something. When you open the gun the action should be tight, make sure you open the gun ALL THE WAY,that is what resets the firing hammers. If this doesn't fix the problem, take it back and have it replaced.

Everyone thank for replies!
I looked at Stoeger forums but it looks like my condor does not shift to safety after first shot... In most cases it shoots second barel if I ease my finger a little after first shot and then squeez trigger again for a second. I've never owened or shot any O/U, is this a way you suppose to shoot doubles? For some reason I though on O/U you jsut suppose squeez trigger for first shot and squeez a little more for second without letting trigger to go back a little....

Thanks

You are describing a fully-auto 2 shot shotgun :) Didn't some old western guns fire that way? Pull the trigger half way to release the safety then pull the trigger again to fire it?

For your gun, each pull of the trigger should fire only one barrel. The first pull should fire one shot which sets the firing pin for the second barrel.

I have the same gun, bought it about 3 months ago. I haven't had any problems with mine yet, no misfires. The barrel selector only selects which barrel will fire first. When you pull the trigger the first time it fires whichever barrel is selected. Release the trigger fully and pull again to fire the second barrel. You have to release the trigger fully after the first shot to engage the second firing pin for the second shot. If you're holding the trigger part way in after the first shot, you're second shot won't fire.
