Any Luck Hunting Pheasants In Minnesota on opener?
hey all, im new to these forums.. but i live in south central minnesota and our opener was reallly bad.. all we got up is 1 hen.. but it was windy plus all the corn was still in... but our dog which is his first year got that hen up by followin the scent trail exactly, pheasants just weren't flushing because of the dang wind. Well, i dont think anyone did good down here... well im goin out 2day also, not as windy might have a few birds flush up.. well any one else pheasant hunt in minnesota this saturday??

I went for a walk early Saturday but the dog didn't get on anything. I expected as much with the wet spring we had and too many crops in the fields. I'm going out this weekend to another spot and as crops are cut it should get better...

Never made it out but the reports I've heard have been very poor. Sounds like the hatch didn't go very well with the wet and cold spring. Doesn't help to have 95% of the corn still in the fields either.

well, i got the first rooster of the year for my family, our dog is doing surprisingly well. But, the corn is ruining the hunting so far, so did the spring with the bad weather, but i think it still should be an OK year as soon as the corn is out!! where most of ya hunting @? i usually hunt in Madison Lake, or i hunt some public land @ judson.

hey
I live in mankato and we hunted near Winnebago and put up 8 pheasants but we were in a ackward (I can't spell) position so we didn't get any and then we tried to chase the singles down but they kept running on us. I have a big black lab and he did great. We also hunt around Judson on some public land. Were do u hunt around Judson?
Good Luck

ya, i also live in mankato =), thats cool got a hunter in mankato.. anywayz, i just hunt this public land right by judson. pretty good public land. but we mostly go to madison lake on my grandparents place. good pheasant hunting. but the corn is ruining it. we've only got i think 4 birds up total. all hens in 2 weeks.. pretty sad... plus we do have an inexperienced dog.
