I usually use 2 3/4 for upland game birds. Thats why I purchased the Remington 870 Super Mag. You can shoot 2 3/4, 3, and 3 1/2 from the same gun.

Dont let that confuse you, they could be using them because they are cheap on price and the department gets a good deal on them. For me i only use Remington shot-guns 3"
and 2and3/4. I shot 40 pheasant last year.

I use 23/4 #8's for quail and 3 inch 4's or 6's for pheasant. There is no point to use 3 inchers for quail all you get is more recoil and cost.

since im only 5'2" i use a winchester 1300 it will take 3" shells i use them for turkey and geese the 2 3/4 is what i use on dove quail pheasant and small game unless i get a chance at them with my bow

YES! when I have to shoot nontox shot ,I shoot a 3" 1 1/8 oz of 3 at 1500fps , great for pheasants and ducks it the marsh.

does any buddy have a problem with the 12 gauge 870 super magnum jamming with the winchester 2 3/4 shells on ejection?
