Longest Pheasant Spur

I'm curious. What is the longest spur you all have seen? I shot a rooster the other day that had 3/4 in. spurs. Most only have 1/4 in. around here. What age would a bird with spurs that long be?2?3?

Even if the length of the spur is not a clear proof for its age, I 'd say from my own experience that this one was about 3-4 years old. A veteran-rooster ;-)

HMMMMM.....Out here in the west we always measured the tail feather, a 22 inch plus tail feather is a good old mature cock. The longest one I have ever shot was a 24 1/2 incher. We never measured the spurs... interesting...[:-]

Yeah, but if you evaluate the pheasant by it's tail feather, you have to realize that the length also depends on how dominant the rooster is(/was :D ).
