good upland gun???
I was thinking about buying a 12g. side by side. shoots 3'' shells, pretty short, and ligh. about $400.00. I have always loved these guns, and thought i would be able to put a full choke in for ducks, and screw in what ever type of choke i wanted for upland game at the same time.
what is your opinion on 12g. side by side for upland bird hunting??
thanks

Idaho - The 12-bore SxS gamegun has been the ultimate form of upland gun since the British perfected it around the turn of the 20th century. There is no finer tool for what we upland bird hunters do.
All that being said, you aren't going to find many British gameguns in your price range...however, you may find some very nice used Spanish boxlocks that you would be very proud to own and shoot. Watch the online auctions and visit pawnshops and the like. You just may stumble on to a great deal.

RE: good upland gun???
I have a Browning side by side 20 gauge double that is choked IC/Mod.
It has a single nonselective trigger, and 26 inch barrels. It has a pistol grip stock, but I wish it was straight.
Is there a place where I can have this gun's trigger changed into one that would enable me to choose either barrel?
There are times when I would prefer to shoot modified first.
I have owned and loved this gun for years.
I don't think they have been made for quite a while.
Mine was made in Japan and assembled in Korea, but the workmanship is first rate.
I agree that there is something appealing about a side by side as an upland gun.
