Default January bird hunt

Planning a first time bird hunt to KS in January. Staying in Salina area and working outwards from there. Any advice on what to expect for weather conditions, potential for late season birds, etc. would be appreciated.

never hunted there, but have many late season hunts in
IMO< what to expect is COLDER temps, Higher winds, and spookier birds or the opposite, tighter holding one's
and runners, pending winds?
cover can get to be less and less too
BUT if there are good numbers of birds and you have a good dog, you will do good
if freezing temps, I would hunt near open water in the AM and evenings, they NEED to drink, always seemed to do better at day break near water than else where on pheasants out in my ND/SD hunts!
good luck
