Any forecasts of Pheasant Numbers SD, NE, or KS?
Any forecast of pheasant numbers in the plains states such as SD, NE or KS? Planning on a trip in Oct. I haven't seen any info online. Mostly find year old articles.

Bird number are low in south central South Dakota. I would say not as bad as last year but still low around here. State should be doing bird counts soon with results out shortly after. |
They will just buy birds from WI and other states I am guessing. Big tourism.

I kinda figured it would take a couple of GOOD years to rebound. It was less than ideal last year. Disappointing. Some friends of mine are heading back this year. Think I'll take a pass and go fly fishing instead. |

SD has good numbers...we did well near Mitchell. If you are going to hunt Fed Land make sure
you do not use lead. I hear of many problems for hunters not using non-tox. My son used his new 20 gauge with Hevishot Duck shells and wore them out |
