Hey Seattle Setters,
A buddy of mine is looking for a started pointing dog. He lost his GSP about a month ago, and has not been able to find a good enough replacement yet. He likes close hunters for these mountain quail and ruffed grouse we hunt down here. He needs a dog that hunts dead very well. He is also wanting one that can swim since we jump shoot ducks sometimes. If your 2 yr. old female can fill the bill,
I know he would be interested.

Hi Seattle, boy what a life. I don' t get out that much although I hunt 2-3 days a week during the season. Do a lot of pheasant hunting within 2 hrs of home (wild birds, but that' s a secret) and have a place in northern lower Michigan which puts me in the grouse woods. My dog is out of Grouse Ridge, Reroy and Ridge. I intentionally keep her within 200 yards in the pheasant fields and she drops back to 60-100 in the grouse woods. I have a collar with a locator beeper on it in case she gets seriously lost but haven' t had to use it yet. (Scares hell out of her). She checks in on a regular basis so far the bell has allowed me to keep track of her. Got two pheasants each day (limit) thurs. fri. and sat. She retrieved all but one that was pretty badly shot up. Great fun!

so lurchman, what did you decide?

Well some of you will love me for this and most of you might think I am crazy, but we picked up our new " pointing" lab yesterday I did alot of thinking and considererd my wifes opinions and agreed to compromise and we settled on a lab.
I have some concerns with this decision and realize there is alot of controversy around the whole idea of a pointing lab but we think this little guy should fit in nicely with our family. He is out of some of the best PL blood out there so hopefully he will make a good hunter/retriever. I will keep you all posted on Jakes progress and thank you for your advice. you are all good people and it is nice to be able to get the opions of others from time to time

Lurch,

Where did you get your PL from and what' s the blood? I have a PL myself. Good choice.
