How many rounds of skeet do you shoot to limber up?

How many rounds of skeet should be shot for pre-season dove practice?

Let's say doves open Sept. 1. Do you spend all your summer weekends at the skeet range?

How much does a round of skeet usually cost?
And a box of 25 shells?

The summers are very HOT here in the Sacramento Valley where I live. I want to spent the hot season cooling off
by boating or swimming, but skeet could be shot the first thing in the morning or at night during the coolest part of the days.

This man has an article at the link below: he says two rounds of skeet per weekend for the three months prior to the dove opener.
So, that is 12 weeks or 24 boxes of shells and 24 rounds of skeet per year for practice.

None. Never shot skeet in my life.

For me, when I want to practice wing shooting I go to a couple of the local farms that have lots of pigeons hanging around. Farmers tend to hate them because the eat a lot of grain meant for stock and they make a mess with their droppings so getting permission to shoot them is pretty easy. You have to be careful around buildings and livestock but once you prove you are a responsible hunter I find farmers will mention you to friends which means more shooting to be had.

Besides, pigeons twist and flare like doves which skeet doesn't and you can also eat them. Pigeon breast is really good on the grill and I've never found a clay target that was good on the grill. Plus, in most states feral pigeons are classified as a pest and you can shoot them year round with no bag limit. Problem solved.

Every round you shoot will help......................Given that your technique/form is correct/good.

I use to shoot 4 rounds on any given day, once a week.

If you want to "test" yourself; go shoot some 5 Stand or shoot a Sporting Clays course or two ?!?!

It can be humbling !!!

I shoot all the shotgun sports "low gun" now.............I never saw anyone walking in the field with their gun mounted, yelling "pull"! LOL

Practice, practice, practice
