Upland outlook this fall
Well, the grouse and hun season has been going up here in Montana for a few weeks now, seems like every week I see a few more guys coming into the area with dog trailers and kennels. I have been seeing a few more huns then usual and sharpies seem to have had a pretty good hatch too. My pheasant hunting areas population seems to be doing really well too, which sounds the opposite of alot of other areas in the pheasant belt. Anybody else out there live in upland country and have a reports they would like to share? 3 more weeks till Montana pheasant opener, good times to be had....hopefully:party0005:

Well, guess their are not any bird hunters on this forum...oh well. I have been hearing South Dakota's bird numbers are way down this year, good news, I found them, their all in Montana!

I leave on the 5th of Nov. for Kansas to hunt what I am told is the remaining one bird out there. Wish me luck.

First year hunting pheasant for my son and I. We're heading out with some guys from work that have hunted the walk-in-access properties in eastern Colorado.
I'm going in with some hopes of seeing some birds but with low expectations of getting any/many shot opportunities. Thankfully the late season crop guide has many more properties compared to the early release maps. |
Still been doing well up here in NE Montana on birds, now we'll give the birds and dogs a little break till Thanksgiving time and do some elk and deer hunting. I'm still believing numbers are up in the areas Ive been hunting, hope everyone is enjoying some decent shooting...
