Texas Pheasant Hunting?
 

Hadn't heard of hunting pheasant in Texas before my wife surprised me with a pheasant hunt from an outfit in Cisco. Pheasant don't naturally flourish in TX anymore (fire ants, apparently), so they have to bring them in and release them. I was a little skeptical of the whole concept going into it, but I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the hunt. Triple H Ranch was the name of the outfit. They release the birds just before the sun rises and we started hunting just after sunrise. We hunted behind 3 brittanies who did great work. The birds were lively, wily, and beautiful.

Curious how this compares to the wild pheasant hunting further north????

Something about hunting over planted birds just doesn't get me as excited as I would be to go out after wild birds. Would be fun when there isn't a season open elsewhere, but I would take wild over planted any day of the week personally.
