Pheasant Hunting in Wisco

Wow, I have been out probably 15-16 times this year in Western Wisconsin pheasant hunting, both on public stocked lands as well as a few private fields. I have yet to see a bird. I do recall seeing a pheasant a few times in N.E. Wisconsin on rabbit hunts, but I cannot beleive I did not see ONE BIRD (well, I did see one wood****). Is pheasant hunting in Wisconsin that bad? I am kind of new, but it can't be that hard finding suitable habbitat for pheasant. I bought a dog a year and a half ago for pheasant/grouse hunting and so far we only have kicked up grouse. But mainly I wanted him for pheasants.

Do I need to travel to S.D.?

Any tips/info/strategies for hunting in Wisco would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad... and Riley.

South Dakota

I cannont answer about wisconsin.

If you want prime pheasant hunting go to south dakota. We have been going the last 3 years. I have never seen so many wild birds before.

Here is an article I came across in a google search. Dunno if this will help you out or answer any questions.
