Dove Hunt pic

Went out with my two boys today, We didn't quite get the bag limit but boy they had a blast and I loved every minute of it. This was the first time we went out and really hunted dove. Usually it was just parking on the side of a canal and hopeing some bird would fly by. Now when we are driving down the road they are looking to see if they can find doves.

Nice!!! Tell me, what type of shotgun do you use? Because i bet a 12 gauge(which is what i want)would rip those little birds to shreds.

Actually we used a 12 guage mossberg. They aren't very close when we shoot so they are knocked down with no damage. I shot one up close and it snowed red feathers.

It is alot of fun. My boys had a great time and so did my buds from work. Dove is tasty if prepped right at least in my opinion. It has a kind of gamy liver taste to it. But marinade for 24 hours in italian dressing, add a slice of jalpeno and a piece of cream cheese in between two breasts and then wrap in maple bacon and let me tell you thats some good eating. An Ice cold Lone Star Beer will wash it down just fine.

Looks like your boys had fun and that is most important part. Unfortunely, due to being out of work and no money, I had to miss yet another season :(

Well me and the boys will be heading out dove hunting tomorrow weather permitting. They are exited and have their camo clothes ready since last night.

Is it worth using your shotgun ammunition? I mean i went to wal-mart and it costs 6 bucks for only 5 shots for 12 gauge beebees. Unless you could get like 2 at a time.........

Well, being out there and having a good time with my boys is worth it. I have had these shells for about two years now. My brother in law gave me a few cases of No.8 and I still have about 4 boxes left. I am sure it will be painful once they run out. Prices are crazy nowadays. I need to practice on being a better shot so I don't waste ammo.

I usually buy the federal or winchester 7 1/2 shot, a case is about $24 at Walmart. I shoot the low brass rounds for doves, quail and squirrel. I save the high brass for the pheasants and grouse.

Mrspy 09-18-2009 04:32 PM

PutnamHonigford 09-19-2009 01:05 PM

Really nice pic of the youngsters there. This was the first year for my oldest. He is 6. I have taken him out twice with me now and he flat out loves it. Anyway, good pic.
