hoping for some help. want to hunt 1 or 2 species of quail in NM this November, scaled and gambels I guess they tend to be in central northern areas. I am staying in Santa Fe. Will bring my dog. any suggestions at all on where to go-- public land or BLM. Thx. Should I reach out to QU in area? Have mostly hunting grouse and pheasant out west.

Do a google search on the subject and you can find some information on it. As far as getting a couple of species of quail, it is a possiblility. The northern part of the state, for the most part, is not very productive. You may have to drive south a far distance before coming into the birds. But, on the good part, the precipitation has been good for the birds.

Check on their DNR sight, see how much public hunting ground they have (if that is what you are wanting to do). They should have alot of info on best places to hunt, etc. If you are looking for an outfitter google it like the other guy said. I am sure their are plenty of outfitters.
