I need to know what is a good load and make for quail. I have often used my extra turkey shells, but i found out that if i get cought using those loads, my liscense is revoked. I need help, please.

I hunt with a 12ga and use Winchester 7/8oz, 7&1/2 shot for quail. I don' t know where you live, but make sure to check with Fish & Game in your state to make sure what the gun and shot restrictions are.

TURKEY LOADS WILL BLOW THEM POOR QUAIL TO KINGDOM COME. USE A LIGHT LOAD AND SMALL SHOT. LIKE 7 1/2 OR 8s. IN MISSOURI IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE SMALL SHOT ON TURKEY BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE TURKEY LOADS ON QUAIL. WITH SMALL SHOT YOU GET A LOT MORE PELLETS WHICH MAKES IT A LITTLE EASIER TO HIT THE BIRDS AND IT IS SURELY A LOT EASIER ON THE OL SHOULDER THAN THE HIGH BRASS HARD SHOOTIN TURKEY LOADS.

I hunt wild Valley Quail with a 20-bore and I really like the Remington Premier 7/8 oz. #8s out of the right barrel and Federal Heavy Field Loads 1oz. #7 1/2s out of the left.
