RE: best shotgun for bird hunting
Any 12 ga pump will do... I use a Benelli Supernova with a 28 inch barrel. The pheasants don't care for it, but thats why I like it!! Of course, I use a 20 gauge (Winchester 1300 Speed Pump)for smaller birds such as chukar... just so there's something left to clean.

I made the switch this year, and use a double barrel black powder shotgun. before that, it was a Stoger Condor over and under 20ga.

Ithaca 37 20ga.

model 12 winchester pump 12 gauge

Last year I killed a couple of doves with my 870 . Yesterday I shot some clays with it and i think it is the best shotgun I have ever shot.

Any shotgun that when you mount it, it settles perfectly in your line of sight.
Fit is everything !!! |
Any shotgun that when you mount it, it settles perfectly in your line of sight. A quality that I look for in an upland gun is that it be relatively light. Most of my SGs are between 7-8 lbs. I tend to grab a lighter one (An Ithaca 37 Featherweight) when I know I'm going to be walking all day. Pete |
i've shot more birds w/ my 870 than i can remember

Fit is everything !!! Very well said -- I totally agree. I like Beretta 390's and 391's, and Remington 870's. All are very dependable guns that I shoot well. |
