I'd recommend a semi-auto Remington, such as the 1100, in either 12 or 20 gauge, with interchangeable choke tubes. If you need to save some money, a pump Mossberg with Improved Cylinder would be nice.

muzzleloading shotguns forever!!! i now have 4 double barrel muzzleloading shotguns and i couldnt say enough about them. they are pretty much a custom loaded shotgun. yes, regular shotguns may be easier to use,but you wont find the graditude that you will from a muzzleloader. they are just simply a blast. and loaded right they will throw just as good a pattern as a regular shotgun. if i do happen to be using my modern shotguns it would be the smith & wesson pump 12 guage and the old iver johnson double barrel 12 gauge.

Another maniac! There is something that can't be matched in being afield with my Pedersoli 12ga. SxS, a brace of fine Springers, and a nice cool fall day. I've taken everything from grouse and pheasants to ducks and geese with it. Every bird I've taken with it tastes better.
If I have to shoot one of those new-fangled breechloaders, I use a Weatherby Orion in 20ga. If I can get out my Daughters hands.....

SKB 585 o/u 20ga. (couldn't find a 700) is my everything upland gun - same factory as Weatherby Orion. Used a 870 express 12ga for waterfowl which I don't hunt anymore. Love to shoot an Ithica 37 featherlight again as that was my first bird gun.

I love my 1100 for hunting some of the thicker stuff for grouse as they do a lot of zig zagging going threw the thick stuff. I also like my single shot 410 for more open areas and for wood****.. As wood**** fly pretty straight once they hit the top of the alder bushes.. So it all depends on what you are hunting and what kind of areas you are hunting in..
