i'm planning on going crow hunting this year. anybody have any tips?

Find an open area with good edge cover, set up an electronic call and a couple Owl decoy's. Hot 12 ga #4s or #5s put 'em down better than standard game loads,actually pretty hard to kill 'em at the distances you'll encounter. NO MOVEMENT in your hidey hole, those birds have unbelievable eyesight, very sensitive to motion. Some guys will throw down broken windshield glass from body shops, the sparkle seems to attract them from a greater distance but hard to clean up. Oh, by the way, not good table fare....even with beer.

agreed. No movement. Dont even blink. Dont raise your gun untill they are practically in your lap.

no movement start out with a single excited crow then try moving into a tape that has a fighting flock or feeding frenzy after the shooting opens its hard to call the same birds back in but ive had some success doing this with an injured crow tape

decoys arent a must but they do help, when we first started busting crows we would easily shoot up a box of shells a man, but they arent dumb they get call shy just like every other animal most of the spots we've been hunting you might only get 3-8

An option could be to select an open area to setup in,place a fresh road kill or something that is in season like a squirrel.
Rip it open a little, as when they get closerI believe they can smell it.
Sometimes many birds will come into your setup and your golden.
However, I've found that if a single bird will come into your call or setup, let him leave.
As he is a searching bird and will usually bring in more birds soon, meaning more chances!!!
Although, it could be a lone bird and if this is the case let him eat for 10-15 minutes remaining perfectly motionless.
If no other birds find him, let him have it.
You could also try 1 decoy, as this can indicate a loner and may be spotted by a group and entice them in.

Just be ready, as you may have a fox or yotecome and visit!!!

Good luck and remember they are very tough birds, so go with your Duck loads, say #4's
