3" Lead Shells - Who makes them?
Hello All,
The grounds I pheasant hunt are home to some wiley smart pheasants. They always manage to get out ahead and only offer some longer shots. I have been hunting with 3" steel #4's and a full choke the past few seasons and this has helped a lot.
What I was wondering is if I can get a 3" lead round. Who makes them, where can I get them? Let me know if you have any info!
Thanks,
Tim

I use Federal 3" I have used Fiocci in the past, and they are pretty good too. I am sure Winchester makes them as well. As far as where to get them... Sporting goods stores?? I buy mine at Ken's Food Fair in Aberdeen SD!

i'm not sure how easy it is to find 3" lead shot at any old sporting good store, but they can be found online easy enough. http://www.midwayusa.com/ebrowse.exe...9217***9487*** Also, try hunting into the wind for pheasants, they don't seen to flush quite as soon.

I use 3" Federal Wing -Shok in 12 gauge and 3" Heavy Shot in my 20 gauge. Not sure where you are located but Cabelas, Gander Mountain and Bass Pro Shop have them. If not see the websites listed on this string.

They must be wild a$$ birds if you need 3" loads! I have carried a few 3" #2's when I get put on block where they have been pushed hard or chance of a sandhill crane flying by! I have done well with some hi-brass 4's out of a 30" full choke modl 12 for blocking...that shotgun is too heavy for hauling all day!

I want to add that 95% of all the shots I take pheasant hunting, either with the 12 or 20 gauge, are with 2 3/4" shells. I use the 3" primarily for blocking in SD, late season hunts, and really windy days.
Mongorunner is right. 3" shells are getting very expensive. The best price I found on 12/20 gauge 3"- Federal Wing-Shok shells was $19.99, but I have seen them as high as $24.99.
