waxed cotton coat advice

I tried the gear forum with no luck. Wouldn't normally repost elsewhere , but I would have thought this was a relatively easy question to answer.

What is the best replacement for a Lewis Creek waxed cotton hunting coat used for upland birds? The use is important as I find anything that is not ventilated well enough (like the LC) is too hot to hunt in.

LC stopped making the short coats (about 29" in the back) and I find this to be the best upland coat ever. Sucks when somebody makes the thing you want and then stops.

I bought and am returning a Barbour waxed cotton coat because it is not ventilated at all, the insulation is too thick for upland, and it is too long.

So I'm looking to tap the collective wisdom of the group. Any advice would be appreciated.
