Indiana Grouse?

Does anyone have any information on good places to hunt in Indiana for grouse?

Indiana Grouse?.......you might as well be hunting Virginia Rails? Ever see one in Indiana? Well, we have a season you know.

A more serious answer is Indiana grouse hunting is as bad as it has ever been. It boils down to habitat, or the lack of it. Tree huggers have just about put an end to clear cutting and without clear cutting we just don't have the habitat it takes. It's a shame, if anyone knows an area I would like to know about it as well.

eelriver's got a point. The habitat in Indiana is just not there. You may be able to find a game reserve or something that has it. What part of the state are you in?

I agree that several of the southern counties have small pockets of birds but what do you guys call a huntable population? You can go to areas and might but up 1-2 or 3 at the most in a hard days hunt.

Just how few birds are you willing to hunt?
