Improving Quail Habitat?

Does anyone have any advice on improving land for quail? I have access to a good sized place in the Texas panhandle which has sandy soils and which probably gets between 20 to 30 inches of annual rainfall. It is broken country with a number of ravines with sandy bottoms. Burning is not even a consideration. Thoughts?

Grown up fencerows are a must. And they really like milo. But contact QU and they can really help out. Also your local extension office is of great help also.

ELKHAIR-LIKE 'ISSHE' SAID QUAIL UNLIMITED OR CONTACT YOUR LOCAL CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT. BOTH SHOULD BE EAGER TO HELP WITH HABITAT, SEED AND TO ANSWER ANY OF YOUR QUESTIONS. MANY TIMES THEY CAN SUPPLY INFORMATION AND IF YOUR LUCKY FINANCIAL HELP. GOOD LUCK AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN PRODUCE A BUNCH OF BIRDS AND KEEP THEM THERE-GOODEE-

Try cutting several small trees midway up the trunk so that they form a lean-to.Not all the way through the trunk, just half-lap them so they'll live.I'm planning to buy some bicolor lespedeza shrubs and Blackwell switchgrass.Maximillian sunflowers are great perennials, but kinda expensive. For quail, good ol' ragweed is a preferred food item.Good luck.p.s. I was serious about the cats.
