I am going to buy a new gun. I am thinking about a
New England Pardner Pump Slug Gun NP1-21S 20 Gauge 21"

A slug gun might be good on deer hunting but not worth didly for upland birds.

If you want a pump i would suggest a
Benneli Nova or a Remington 870 they have screw in chokes and both are under 300 new in box (NIB)

I have the 870 Wingmaster and it fits me like a glove. It is the only shotgun that I have that I am really accurate with and this particular model is full choke only. It is hard to beat a Remington 870.

That being said, you mentioned New England Arms so money might be tight for you. Buy the best gun you can afford, you won't be sorry you did. Also, make sure that the place you are buying from knows how to fit a gun to you, not just sell you a gun. There is no sense buying something that is too big or too small.

NEF looks pretty decent. There isn't much that could go wrong with a pump. If you want a slug gun I would probably get an 870.

For upland i say go with a Benelli or a Remington. I have a 870 wingmaster as well and it works awesome and as earlier stated they are cheap too.
