Default over/under vs. side-by-side, 20 vs 12 gauge

What are your opinions on over/under vs side-by-side shotguns, and is a 12 gauge better than 20 gauge. Give your opinion and what kind of hunting you do, birds, types of shooting, etc.

Either is good when it comes to hunting. The only difference to me is that you can find a lower end O/U that balances and feels reasonable well where a low end SxS's are clubs.
I own both O/U & SxS, theO/U's sees more duty than the 28 ga SxS, but itgets the call often enough not too feel too neglected.

I own 2 o/u's and a 12 gauge pump. The pump is for waterfowl and the o/u's are for upland birds. My 20 o/u is for preserve birds and I use the 12 o/u for wild birds. For some reason, I never really wanted a sxs. It is my humble opinion that the o/u's swing better. Others may differ.

It all Depends
Do you like
Ford
Chevy
Dodge

Really,
What you are comfortable with and have confidence in is what you will have the best results from
I shoot a 410 single shot and a new and old 410 SxS
Because i like a challenge
i also have Autos, O/Us, and SxSs in 12, 20, 16, 28, 410
from Parkers to a Remington 1100
i can shoot anything i pick up
If you think like that it does not matter anymore what you shoot
It does matter how much you shoot and how often.
If i miss a target i will shoot that target over and over again untill i figure it out

Practice makes Perfect unless it is work

O/U and 12 gauge all the way. You'll find that the o/u is way nicer to hold. The 12 gauge is more versatile. You can always shoot light loads out of a 12 but you can never get 12 gauge power out of the 20.

I wish someone would explain to me what the difference is between a 20 ga 1 ounce of shot going out the barrel a 1300FPS and 12 ga going out at 1300 with 1 ounce of shot they both hit the bird the same.

I will shoot my Ruger Red Label Sporting Clays model 20 gauge anytime and at anything including Trap and do just as well as 12 gauge boys and their big heavy cannon's

It would be hard to peel my hands off my Parkers or my Purdys! I go SXS all the way. That being said, it's whatever your comfortable with. Just about any gun is more accurate than the guy pulling the trigger.
