Dove feed

What is the best crop field altenative for doves. I have access to corn, sunflowers, wheat, buckwheat, or sorghum. I know millet is very good too, but there is none in the areas that I hunt.

I would strongly consider my options between the wheat and sunflower fields if it was me...

I dont know that much about dove hunting but ive always had good shoots in corn fields, but everyone tells me millet is the way to go, if possible. Hit the water holes.

Water and marijuana. You can shoot till your barrels start to glow at night or run out shells.

RE: Dove feed

I would say sunflowers are the preferrred feed of doves BUT the field must be prepared correctly....timely planting in april, kept weed free (the hardest part)... and brush hogged before season to spread the seed. Wheat is also an awesome draw if you burn the field off. This basically leaves barren ground with nothing but feed. Thats what the doves want, no weeds or cover, basically a plate with food on it. The Location of the field is also very important.

Most people hunt the crop fields that are in their area. This may be corn cut for sileage, wheat harvested late and disced, sunflowers, millet, and i am sure theres many more. Dont overlook watering holes and roost sites, both can be full of fast and furious shooting.
