Where to go?
 

I am interested in taking my father (69) on a bird hunting trip for pheasant or grouse within a two day drive of central WI. Does anyone have suggestions on the best places to go on a moderate budget?

Lots of good places for pheasants in South Dakota. Check out this place. 50 miles NW of Sioux Falls just off of I-90. www.SkoglundFarm.com :eek:

my uncle owns a resort in south dakato and the pheasant hunting is amazing, but i think you could get into something just as good in iowa which would be a closer drive.... even western minnesota is pretty damn good too.

Thats a tough one. Hunting in most places is turning into a rich man's sport. I live in colorado and could only manage two trips out on a limited bit of walk in access and didnt see a thing. Most places are leased out and you must pay a fortune to have access. Regretfully, I have no advice for you and will probably end up all but quitting upland game hunting due to no place to go. I am also looking for somewhere to go. I hunted all year in IL last year where I worked, and now im working in the carribean and my dogs in AZ. When I come back in January I want to take a trip. I need some more IDEAS!!!! I wanna give my dog the best trip ever!!

My dad went to SD last yr... He said it was a first class pheasant and chukkar hunt. They limited everyday and they allowed him to bring his own bird dog
