roadkill pheasant
 

Does anyone know what to do with a day old roadkill pheasant. It seems intact and I didnt want to throw it out. I was thinking of eating it but am not sure. Or maybe mounting it??

I am positive its a day old btw.

Don't eat it, use it to train your dog. If you don't have a dog, make a cape of it and sell it on ebay or sell to someone.

With the amount of bacteria that's been breeding in it, either throw it out or use the feathers for something like fly tying. I'd be worried about worms. I wouldn't let my dog touch it. BTW, i'm kinda conscience about my dog's health as I hate paying vet bills. I won't let her drink standing water becauseI've seen dogs that will urinate or defecate in standing water.

What has the temps been like? If it has been cold for most of the time it has been dead the possibility of worms and/or bacteria is probably pretty low. Probably lower than a bird shot first thing in themorning, hunting all day with it in your game bag, driving home and cleaning the bird late when you get home or waiting until the next morning to clean it.

Yeah, it was fairly cold out. Lower 20's-30's overnight when it must've been hit. Its not gutted yet though so I dont really feel safe eating it. I'd much rather use the feathers for fly fishing like Mite said.
