Hunting Chuckars in PA

I was wondering if anybody on here could help me answer this question. If you buy and release chuckars on your property here in Pennsylvania being that they are not a native game bird, can you hunt them anytime of the year without getting any type of permit or license? Or do you have to get a certain permit or something? Thanks

I'm not sure about PA but here in ME you can on your own land. And that would be only the land owner except for regular bird season. However it would be wise to check with the local game warden to make sure. A permit here is only $25 for two years so either way it is not very bad. On a permit you and your buddies can hunt them at anytime of year. At least it is that way here.

I've hunted a local shooting preserve a few times and had a conversation our dog handler.I ask if the Pheasants and chukars will survive if no one shoots them. The handler said that they usually recapture most of the pheasants. In a few days, the pheasants will be back and walk around the outside of thepens. They go and catch them at nite and put them back in the pen.But he said that the chukars usually die in the wild. He said they eat something and it kills them. He thought it was earthworms or something.

I don't know how true that is, but that's what he said. You might want to check this out before you go releasing a bunch of chukars

Pigeons would be cheaper, but I understand what you want. better off to call your game commission and ask.
