doves???

I'd like to try my hand at dove shooting. I live in Massachusetts, which doesn't allow doves to be shot. Does anyone know where I might be able to shoot doves not too far from here?

RE: doves???

If you want to shoot alot of doves try Argentina. everyone should experience this at least one time.
You can shoot till your shoulder gets to hurting. and you will limit yourself to a case of shells a day.

RE: doves???

Go to the Dove sportsman's Society web site and find out what states have a dove season. Always starts Sept 1st.

Then find the agricultural part of the state and drive around until you find some small grain fields (wheat, oats, etc.) and ask for permission to hunt. Do this scouting ahead of time so you have it a place all set up. Then setup near a small dead tree or make a dead tree to put a couple of decoys up in, have a seat and wait for a few to fly in. Doves fly in patterns...draws, fence lines, thru a cut in a tree line, etc. that you can set up on as well. Again, scout their patters in the morning and evening.

Gravel pits are also good and easy to get permission to hunt in. Find a little water and set up near. Ponds in pasture areas are also good...they like the vegetation free muddy edge that the cows leave. Cut a big branch and stick it in a hole next to the pond (make an artificialdead tree) and then set some decoys in it. Alota fun.
