Thanks guys, I'm hoping to start training my first Dog this year. I have a Brittany coming in April. She or he will be 8 weeks old and coming from a pheasant farm in Utah. It's parents are incredible. I've hunted with them a few times. They really know their stuff. The guy I am getting the pup from has a long line of dogs from GSP's to Brit's. I'm hoping the pup will inherit their instincts.

So this will be my first training so any help I can get from the forum will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again guys

Welcome Birdman1,
My suggestion is to pick upa book then start reading and get a DVD. I like Smith's DVD, Puppy Development. One book I would recommend is Delmar Smith's book by Bill Tarant Best Way to Train Your Gun Dog. A little outdated but good. It uses a method which uses a light hand. You can get it here: http://www.huntsmith.com/

Birdman, welcome to the forum. I can also attest to what Mite has said. I use it on my Brit and she is coming along nicely. She will be 2 in April. Good luck with her and hop on over to the hunting dog section if you need help. There are many people over there that are willing and able to answer your questions. I've also found them to be helpful in a constructive manner.
