Turkeys and Crows ???

In your opinion, what is the relationship between turkeys and crows? Which hates the other worse?Read some interesting posts yesterday on Bowsite.com on this topic. Can crows be used as turkey locators? Please share any experiences you have had that might lead you to believe that crows hate turkeys or vice-versa. Thanks

I think crow calls are the number one turkey locators, although I've never used them myself.

Don't know about the hate/hate relationship, though. But doesn't pretty much every creature on the planet hate crows? :)

I watched a hen bow up at 3 crows one time, spread out her tail but not up and ran at them. I was jus walking down the road and saw her about 100 yards and she walked down the road all the way to me the crow fight was about 30 yards from me. after she went in the woods I got up and started walking again and I think the same 3 crows were after another hen about 200 yards down the road and around a few curves. I think they hate each other. I watched a gobbler out in a clear cut for 10 mins gobbling at crows nonstop the crows were flyin all around him there was about 15 of em.

I dont think they like each other very much. I guess I dont know exactly though. Crow calls are awesome locators though. If there are toms around and they are in the mood to talk, they will gobble back at a crow.

I've heard that if you hear a bunch of crows cawwing at something, its possible they are reacting to strutting turkeys. Supposedly, if you call and a Tom fans out but doesn't gobble, sometimes the crows will give away his position. I haven't had any personal experience with this, but If I hear crows going nuts, I'll keep this in mind. I have had alot of success with turkeys shock gobbling to my crow calls. I've had better luck with crow calls than owl hooters.

I love crows...they can make the most tight lipped turkey gobble. When the crows start calling the turkey start gobblin!

Since crows are scavengers, turkey eggs and poults are prime food sources. Crows will shadow hens looking for nesting sites to seal eggs and poults. Also both set up territories and will rebuke each other. As for hate each other, I don't believe they think like that. It is just an invasion on their territory.
