What's up in Iowa??
 

Just wondering how the 2nd season went for everybody and what the birds are doing now for the 3rd season?. What I have heard is that between the bad weather and the henned up birds it has been real tough. Can anybody confirm this?

My next season starts on Wednesday the 27th. Went scouting last Sunday, did't get there until around 6:00am. Birds would have already been on the ground(Full moon, no clouds - real light by about 5:45), but I did not hear one gobble from the ground I hunt, well over 300 acres of timber. I did hear a bird on the neighboring property that gobbled pretty good until a shot rang out at about 6:30. I assume that the bird was reponding to a hunters call. Anyway is it that tough out there right now??.

Second season went well for me and quite a few other hunters I know.
3rd season had to be a bear with that wind last weekend.
Saw alot of strutters thing morning going to work, definately with the hens.
4th season is just around the corner... can't wait to get back out there.

I shot one less than an hour into 2nd season. The hunting was great then. All I've heard about 3rd season is that the birds wont respond and are henned up real bad. I have asked alot of people that hunt throughout the state and have gotten the same report. The hunting should get better again in the 4th season though. I'm really looking forward to it. The later it gets, the better the hunting alot of times. Good luck to all you and be safe!!
