Locating and roosting birds

What percentage of birds do you feel will sound off at night? I was out listening last night and had only one bird close, and possibly a REALLY far off bird sound off. There was even a real owl hooting that the one gobbler kept shocking at. I was hoping to hear more, what are the chances that they just aren't vocal? Even if I listened every day for a week straight would I be able to get a good idea of how many are around?

RE: Locating and roosting birds

Birds out west gobble good on the roost in the evening. My experience is that the southern birds I have hunted (NC, GA, FL) don't typically gobble on the roost at night. I'd bet my percentage is way under 10%.
