Afternoon gobblers
This year , here in Ontario , we can hunt gobblers until 7pm . Previous seasons it was until 12noon , so hunting Turk's in the afternoon is new to me .
I can get a gobbler all cranked up in the morning using a mouth call , but , what kind of calling should I do in the later part of the day ? Decoys ? |
RE: Afternoon gobblers
I like hunting them in the afternoon. I usually go out and sit in a liklely spot around 3pm and if I hear a gobble I might move to get closer. Usually you wanna do light calling until it is starting to become evening. When it gets cooler and darker the hens will start to talk a lot more, at least in my area. So I pick up the calling with louder yelps and even some cutting. I usually get pretty good gobbling responses at this time. Hope this has been of some help to you.

RE: Afternoon gobblers
Usually in my woods they quit gobblin about 8 30, last weekend i went out at 9, just to scout around, i did a few calls here and there. i got a few to light up, but i never stayed around for them to come in. i don't wanna spook em. Try just wondering around the woods, and call once and awhile, they'll gobble, then that will give u a chance to set up
