Default Gobbling Then go Quiet, What next?

I have been hunting one property in particular for 2 years, and seem to be on birds daily. The gobbling starts at about 6:15, and stops by 6:45. I have been set-up to the point I have seen them fly down only to go directly away from me. I assume they are henned up, but at some point something needs to give! I have some success in getting the hens near me to communicate, and have actually gone back and forth for 15 minutes with them, and still no avail. The way the property is set up it is almost impossible to get behind them, and intercept. I need to turn them some 20-40 yards to me. Any ideas on methods of calling or any other advice? This pattern has totally got me frustrated, and I'm making mistakes at other properties because of this situation.
Thanks

You could try cutting really hard to get the hens pissed and hope they drag the gobbler in with them. Another idea is to try to knock the hens off the roots if you know where they are, but you take the risk of jumping the gobbler. Good Luck!

So, there is no way you can get in there super early and get to where they fly down? (assuming its the same spot everytime?)

When you call does he gobble back at all ?

I have seen this on turkey hunting shows and in the woods.

If he does gobble back a little and gets quiet it
It could be he is sneaking in to see where the hen is.

From what I have seen they will do that.

Get set up and stay as covered up as posable.
Maybe a pop up blind.
Sit still if he is looking for the hen he will apear out of nowhere.
Look for his head to be pokeing up like a parascope on a submarine.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck

i'venoticed in my woods while scouting that the gobblers shut off at around 8 30. Try stalking slowly throughout the woods and call a bit as your walking, once you hear a gobbler respond, then try and workhim, It's worked for melast year

Your best bet may be to give it a shot in the morning and if you dont get them in wait till a little later after the hens may be nesting. Chances are the toms will go looking for more hens to breed. You can find a likely strutting zone or feeding place and call lightly. Also if it gets warm setup near a pond or watering place and call lightly as just sit for a while. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

I have had the same thing happen to me two days this week. Remember that the Ohio season started a week earlier this year and the gobblers are still with the hens (phase II). Typically, the advice already given will all work but I think we are about a week early for the hens to be going off to nest and leaving the gobblers. I think the late morning hunting will pick up starting next week. Until then, your best bet is to intercept the gobblers when they fly down or ambush them in their travels.
