Oklahoma Turkeys.....
 

Ok fellow Oklahoma Turkey hunters when are all of the gobblers gonna break away from the flocks. Everytime I have been out the gobblers are staying in the flocks and not coming to my calling or decoys. what do I do....

Not sure of your location in the state, but I hunted in Okfuskee County this weekend and the birds were definitely split up. I called in a group of eight jakes in Saturday morning and then two long beards that hung up around 60 yards. All of these birds were w/o hens.

I also hunted Harmon County opening week and the birds were all henned up. We basically roosted the birds each night and then snuck in really close well before daybreak. We were close enough that when the birds flew down they were in range, so we could watch and call a little and then shoot. This worked well for me and my hunting buddy. We took a couple of real nice Rios.

If your birds are henned up I would try to roost them and then sneak in real close <60 yards and try and set up in the direction you think that they will be traveling.

I hunt in Grady county and as of last weekend they were still in flocks. But I hope to go sometime this week like on wednesday and check them out.

I hunt out near Weatherford, in Wa****a county, and they were not answering or coming in the least bit the first day or two of season. I got my first bird of the season by intercepting them on the way to the roost in the evening. The second bird was just two days later and he came in to calls. I didn't expect him to becuase of the way the birds had been the few days before that - not answering and not coming and not caring, basically. He came in strutting, though, so I tagged him.
